CollisionCare App ~~ Tip of the Week~020612~~

Previous CollisionCare App Tips discussed what you can see and manage to avoid the situation. This tip discusses what you can’t see or fully evaluate as a threat to your safety. In winter driving conditions a dangerous situation exists and most drivers cannot understand it’s danger.

As an example, we are discussing a 4 lane boulevard after a recent snow storm. The first step in snow removal is to plow the fallen snow to the side of the road. When snow is piled on the side of the street, depending on the amount of fallen snow, the piles of snow can take about 3 to 5 feet of horizontal space in that inside lane. Whether or not that lane is used for parking spaces or for additional traffic capacity, it is critical that drivers using the “clear of snow ” lane know that the inside lane is 30% smaller than before.

Which means that traffic or parked cars are up to 5 feet closer to you than when that inside lane is completely clear. This means you need to expect parked car doors’ suddenly opening into your lane and know that traffic in that lane is much closer to you than usual. If you need to avoid cars in that “snow pile” lane, anticipate an avoidance move that will compensate for that vehicle being 5 feet closer to you than expected.

In summary that snow piled in the inside lane is not seen by you but one must understand the threat the unseen snow pile brings to your driving safety.

The CollisionCare iPhone App ~ Tip of the Week ~ 012312

This week’s tip of the week is to help you be a more aware driver thereby avoiding that fender- bender.

First, when driving to the shopping mall be extremely cautious as the parking lot may appear cleared but may have large amounts of black ice. Why would there be black ice? Most shopping malls do not remove the snow they clear the snow to the sides of the parking lot. As the snow piles melt with the daytime sunshine, the water flows to the drainage system and freezes over night creating black ice.

Secondly, you need to keep a pair of sunglasses in your car, the sunshine is very brilliant and will make it nearly impossible to see. You need to be able to see if you want to avoid a fender-bender.

Just remember. when driving in the parking lot of your favourite mall there are lots of opportunities to be involved in a fender-bender.

Responsible drivers can delay the fender-bender but be cautious of the irresponsible drivers believe that a fender-bender can’t happen to them.

The CollisionCare iPhone App ~ Tip of the Week ~ 011612

This week’s tip of the week is to help you be a responsible driver, to spot irresponsible drivers and thereby avoiding that fender- bender.

First, keep your car topped up with windshield washer fluid, the driver being able to see what is ahead, is critical to accident avoidance. Clean the snow and frost off your car, if you don’t clean the snow off it ends up on your windows and you can’t see ahead or worse yet onto the windshield of the driver behind you, which means he can’t see you!!!!

Secondly, keep some extra space between your car and the car ahead of you at a stop sign or stoplight. Keeping that extra space is important so that you have some extra room to possibly avoiding that car approaching you from the rear. Of course you can’t see that car coming at you if your rear - window has snow or frost on it.

Just remember. when driving in the winter you should understand that ice. black ice, is possible anywhere there is snow on, or near, the roadway. Drive as if your car will start sliding the instant you touch your brakes.

Responsible drivers can delay the fender-bender but be cautious of the irresponsible drivers believe that a fender-bender can’t happen to them.

The CollisionCare iPhone App ~ Tip of the Week ~ 121211

One of the major points of capability of the CollisionCare iPhone App is the ability to record information before and after the vehicles collide. One of the big issues out there are various schemes of insurance fraud.

With CollisionCare having your information registered before any accident, you are prepared to record the vital information from the other drivers involved in the collision. Make sure you have the information recorded of the other drivers as any misinformation could delay and or disallow your claim. Do not rely on other driver’s involved in the collision to provide you information after the fact.

If the other drivers are hesitant or unwilling to hand over their information, you could be the unwilling participant in an insurance fraud. Protect your rights! Take pictures of the various cars and drivers involved and call 911 for police assistance. The CollisionCare App will dial the police for you !

Protect your rights by having the CollisionCare App filled out as soon as you download it, include the pre-accident photo! In any case where you feel something is wrong or you had to involve the police. do not share the information gathered until you have acceptance by your lawyer or family member.

~Tip Of The Week~

People do commit insurance fraud and usually your insurance company will try to shoulder the responsibility and liability on you! By using CollisionCare, to record your car’s pre-accident condition and vital information as well as the effects of the collision on the scene, your car and the other vehicles, you make sure that your lawyer and/or family member has sufficient data to help you! The triage portion of The CollisionCare App is there to help you determine the severity of the situation and if required, help you call emergency services.

The CollisionCare iPhone App ~ Tip of the Week ~ 120511

As more people experience the CollisionCare iPhone App we are hearing similar experiences about the auto insurance companies. Here is this week’s tip !

For business purposes, it appears that most insurance companies consider claim payments as a form of cost center economics. In business, a cost center is a part of the company where only expenses occur. A similar example in family life, getting gas for your car is a “cost center”, you rarely get money for buying gas, but you pay for gas time and time again.

A good example of how this works is when a claims adjuster is trying to set, get you to accept, and pay you for their view of the damage on or replacement value of your car. One person, with a total wreck of their car, had “their insurance company’s” claim adjuster state that the value of their car was worth less than expected because of the cigarette burns on the seats. The victim, never a smoker, objected and went to the wrecking yard to take photos to prove that the seats were free of cigarette burns. This position, according to the insurance company, was a harmless mistake, we wonder what was the claims adjuster actually looking at?

So how can you protect yourself against insurance companies trying to reduce their claim payouts and keep costs low? Afterall, it is an insurance company, a big powerful, “Wall Street” friendly financial conglomerate. They are responsible to their shareholders - wether public or private - for profits. Nothing more. After an accident, you need to be building your case immediately. You should have lots of evidence, do not depend on the insurance company taking lots of pictures and sharing them with you! You should take pictures of your vehicle on a regular basis and use CollisionCare to date and save them. This will be your baseline for any negotiations with the Insurance Company and to settle your claim to your benefit, not their’s. After all, they only want to pay you the basic minimum!

~Tip Of The Week~
Remember the insurance company is a business which is required to keep its costs as low as possible! They are depending on you NOT to do your homework. By using CollisionCare, to record your car’s pre-accident condition, you make sure that you are doing what you can to protect your family and yourself!
